Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication

Protect your account with an additional layer of security.

Why Use 2FA?

Two-factor authentication significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access, even if your password is compromised.

Supported Methods

Authenticator App (Recommended)

  • Google Authenticator
  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • Authy
  • 1Password

SMS Verification

  • Backup option
  • Requires verified phone number

Hardware Security Keys

  • FIDO2/WebAuthn compatible
  • YubiKey, Google Titan

Setup Instructions

Authenticator App

  1. Go to Settings > Security
  2. Click "Enable Two-Factor Authentication"
  3. Select "Authenticator App"
  4. Scan the QR code with your app
  5. Enter the verification code
  6. Save backup codes securely

SMS Verification

  1. Go to Settings > Security
  2. Click "Enable Two-Factor Authentication"
  3. Select "SMS"
  4. Enter your phone number
  5. Verify with the code sent

Backup Codes

  • Generate 10 backup codes
  • Store them securely offline
  • Each code can only be used once
  • Regenerate if compromised

Recovery Options

If you lose access to your 2FA method:

  1. Use a backup code
  2. Contact your administrator
  3. Verify identity through support
